Center of Excellence the Cerovac Caves - sustainable management of natural heritage and karst underground

The project aims to improve the presentation of Cerovac Caves, one of the primary tourist attractions in Nature Park Velebit. The project includes building a modern reception center for visitors, reconstructing the visitor infrastructure, reconstructing promenades to and inside caves in the part already used for tourism purposes, and communal equipping of the pedestrian road surface to accommodate a larger number of visitors and vehicles. The entire space will be equipped with modern interpretive and educational content that is thematically related to the phenomena of Cerovac Caves karst, and natural and cultural heritage of the Nature Park Velebit. As part of this project, the program of establishing the Center of Excellence - Regional Speleological Reference Center will be implemented, which will enable Nature Park Velebit to provide specialist speleological research services for various entities and will also develop an offer of various educational, sports, recreational and tourist services.
